Nourish x Northwest Film Forum Present Black Mother

  • Northwest Film Forum 1515 12th Ave Seattle, WA 98122 (map)

Come on a journey with me. Let's explore the soul of a place and the people that inhabit it. Black Mother, Khalik Allah's second feature-length film about Jamaica and the black identity is "part birth, part baptism."

Water is life. The earth is our mother. Welcome to a new environment.

Allah's documentary takes us to the islands to witness the cycles of birth, life and spirit. These images capture the complexity of the human experience and the battle for belonging. We must keep pushing.

Post screening, join me for a community conversation with Elisheba Johnson, Public Art Program Manager for City of Seattle Art & Culture, and Chris Sims, Seattle Art Consultant.

How do images alone tell a story?

How do we establish trust and connection?
